When my pal Sean Wainsteim asked me to create some chapter title cards for his short film, Lost for Words, I was happy to help. He wanted something that would suit the live action footage, which involved kids running through a fantastical forest, picking up small magical cards with key words on them.
He sent me the rough cut of the film, and after some initial experimentation with designs in Photoshop, Sean said he was thinking of artwork that was more 3-dimensional, and photography-based. Initially we thought of building these simple vignettes with the printers' letterblocks and photographing them as still images, but in the end, I figured I might as well animate them, too! So I set about building some artwork that could have some simple animation applied to it.
The lighting for these chapter cards was set up by Brendan Steacy and Sean Wainsteim. The final colour correction was done at Alter Ego.
